We are honoured to be featured in Country & Townhouse’s Great British Brand 2025 – 10 Year Anniversary Edition, a landmark celebration of the businesses shaping British luxury today.
To be recognised alongside such an inspiring cohort is a moment of reflection for us at Heirlooms — not only on how far we have come, but on the values that have guided us from the very beginning: craftsmanship, integrity, sustainability and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Focusing on the past 10 years, Heirlooms has evolved in scale, reach and ambition, while remaining true to its origins as a specialist maker of the finest bespoke linens. What began with a strong foundation in the superyacht industry has grown into a multifaceted business serving private residences, private aviation, iconic yachts and royal households worldwide.
Our team of 30 highly skilled craftspeople design and manufacture linens that reflect changing tastes, contemporary lifestyles and the enduring appeal of exceptional materials. From introducing new collections that respond to interior trends, to building a thriving online presence that brings Heirlooms directly to private clients, our growth has been intentional and carefully considered.
Two themes have defined the past decade across luxury manufacturing: sustainability and technology. For Heirlooms, these are not recent additions but long-established pillars of how we operate.
Our commitment to responsible production was recognised with the award of a Royal Warrant by His Majesty King Charles III, when he was Prince of Wales — an honour that reflects practices we have upheld for many years. At the same time, carefully adopted technologies have allowed us to increase productivity while preserving the hand-finished quality that defines our work. Our fabrics continue to be sourced from the finest weaving mills in Italy, ensuring excellence without compromise.
While global events such as Brexit and Covid presented challenges, they were navigable. The most pressing and enduring issue facing our industry is the shortage of skilled makers.
True luxury depends on people — on the ability to cut, embroider, weave and finish textiles with precision and care. At Heirlooms, we actively open our workshops to students studying textiles, introducing them to the creative and commercial realities of British manufacturing. By showing what is possible, we hope to inspire the next generation of craftspeople and ensure these skills continue to thrive.
“What I consider to be the biggest and most on-going threat is the skills shortage." - Ruth Douglas, Managing Director
As we look to the next decade, our ambition is clear: to continue strengthening Heirlooms’ reputation as a creative design-led manufacturing business, not simply a fine linens brand.
We are focused on expanding our international presence — particularly in the United States and the Middle East — developing new product categories, and collaborating ever more closely with our Italian mill partners to drive innovation in both fabric development and sustainable production.
Above all, our aim is continuity: of craftsmanship, of creativity, and of opportunity. When the time eventually comes to pass the baton, we want the next custodians of Heirlooms to be firmly in place — equipped with the skills, knowledge and passion required to carry British textile excellence forward.
